Oatmeal Scones

Serve these warm with butter and marmelade or jam.

Ingredients

Oatmeal Scones2 cups flour
1 cup quick rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk

Directions

  1. In food processor bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cut butter into chunks, add to food processor and process until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Combine egg and milk and pour over ingredients in food processor.
  4. Process until mixture forms into a ball and pulls away from sides of food processor.
  5. Divide dough in half and on a floured surface, pat each half out into a circle about 3/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut each circle into 6 wedges, like a pie.
  7. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees F. for about 15 minutes, until browned. Makes 12 scones.
