Oatmeal Scones
Serve these warm with butter and marmelade or jam.
Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 cup quick rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
Directions
- In food processor bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Cut butter into chunks, add to food processor and process until mixture is crumbly.
- Combine egg and milk and pour over ingredients in food processor.
- Process until mixture forms into a ball and pulls away from sides of food processor.
- Divide dough in half and on a floured surface, pat each half out into a circle about 3/4 inch thick.
- Cut each circle into 6 wedges, like a pie.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees F. for about 15 minutes, until browned. Makes 12 scones.
