Cranberry Sauce

When I was a kid, we never saw a fresh cranberry - as far as we knew, cranberry sauce was just something that came in a can. Now, fresh (or frozen) cranberries are readily available, so it is easy to make a great cranberry sauce to go with your holiday turkey.

Ingredients

Cranberry Sauce2 cups fresh cranberries
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons grated orange rind
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients together in a saucepan. Place over medium heat, and bring to a boil, stirring often.
  2. Reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring often, until thick - about 5 to 7 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool. Serve warm or cold as desired.
