Cheese Buns
Ingredients
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 package yeast
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup milk
3/4 cup cheese spread (Cheese Whiz)
3-4 cups flour
Directions
- Stir 1 teaspoon sugar and package of yeast into the water. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- In a saucepan, mix melted butter with the 3 tablespoons flour, sugar and salt. Stir in milk, and cook and stir over medium heat, until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheese spread. Stir until smooth and cooled to lukewarm.
- Combine yeast mixture with 3 cups flour in mixer bowl with bread hook. Add cheese mixture and knead on low speed for 7-10 minutes, adding additional flour gradually if required until dough forms into a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Cover and allow to sit in a warm spot until dough rises to double in size. Punch dough down.
- Form dough into rolls as desired - recipe will make 8 hamburger-size buns or 16 dinner rolls. Place rolls on greased pan - use a cookie sheet for individual buns or 2 8 inch square pans for pan buns. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
- Bake at 400 degrees F. for 10 - 18 minutes, depending on the size of buns you are making.
