Cheese Buns

Ingredients

Cheese Bun1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 package yeast
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup milk
3/4 cup cheese spread (Cheese Whiz)
3-4 cups flour

Directions

  1. Stir 1 teaspoon sugar and package of yeast into the water. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, mix melted butter with the 3 tablespoons flour, sugar and salt. Stir in milk, and cook and stir over medium heat, until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in cheese spread. Stir until smooth and cooled to lukewarm.
  4. Combine yeast mixture with 3 cups flour in mixer bowl with bread hook. Add cheese mixture and knead on low speed for 7-10 minutes, adding additional flour gradually if required until dough forms into a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Cover and allow to sit in a warm spot until dough rises to double in size. Punch dough down.
  6. Form dough into rolls as desired - recipe will make 8 hamburger-size buns or 16 dinner rolls. Place rolls on greased pan - use a cookie sheet for individual buns or 2 8 inch square pans for pan buns. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  7. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 10 - 18 minutes, depending on the size of buns you are making.
