About Us

Joan DonoghThe first website I ever made, back in 1998, was Now….you’re cooking! (it has been redesigned since that time, as I learned a bit more). It was done as a hobby and as a way to collect all my favourite recipes, most of which I enjoyed while growing in Souris Manitoba, a small town in the Canadian prairies.  The site grew to be very popular, and I have received emails from people all over the world over the years - many expressing their happiness at finding an old recipe that their mother or grandmother used to make for them. That is what “comfort food” is all about: foods that remind us of a happy time in our lives, usually when we were children, safe and taken care of.

A few years after making that first website, I became a web designer full time. My business is called In Formation Design, and I am happy to be able to help my clients to present their small businesses in a professional manner.

I now live in Wasaga Beach, a beautiful town on the shore of Georgian Bay in Ontario, and continue to enjoy trying out new recipes (I usually try them out on my neighbours at potluck dinners!) Website technology continues to develop, and so I thought it was time to create a new recipe site, including some new interactive features. Viewers can now rate recipes and add their comments. As the site name, Recipes Old and New, suggests, we will be revisiting some of the comfort food classics, and also trying out some new recipes (the classics of tomorrow).

I hope you enjoy your visit!
